Name: John Welsh After MHS I: Graduated from St. John's University with a major in biology. I then went to work as a reporter at a small weekly in Iowa -- the first of five newspapers where I worked. Farthest away from MHS: Beijing, China. Most bizarre place I’ve run into an old classmate: I sat next to Steve Streed at a hearing on a wrongful death case in the Stearns County Courthouse. I was covering it for the St. Cloud Times and he was doing a summer clerkship at a local law firm. Best friend while at MHS: Scott Wentworth, Todd Ripley and Eric Kittleson. The most meaningful moment I have had since MHS: Stopped drinking and came out of the closet. I now reside in: St. Paul Here’s what I do on a daily basis: I cover schools for the St. Paul Pioneer Press. I try to swim regularly and I'm increasingly involved in our union. Spouse/Partner: Boyfriend: Chris Sullivan.
