Name: Karen Kohnke After MHS I: Went to College of St. Benedict, gradually came out of my shell, met my future husband (John Welsh's college roommate at St. John's) traveled cross-country to Oregon, lived there for a year, moved to Pennsylvania, then moved to Syracuse, NY (where I was born), then worked at an equestrian resort in Virginia, then moved to my husband's home state of Illinois, finally, and got married. While at MHS, I would have loved to have had a date with (or been noticed by): Anyone. Most Embarrassing High School memory is: YES. Most exciting thing I’ve done since I left MHS: Fall in love. Traveled all over, took a night train from Rome to Cannes. Farthest away from MHS: Italy. Most bizarre place I’ve run into an old classmate: My future husband's dorm room. Also, ran into Jim Fellows at a bar in St. Joseph. Best friend while at MHS: Kris. The most meaningful moment I have had since MHS: There have been many, of course, but I'd have to say getting married, and surviving cancer (2 yrs.). I now reside in: Springfield, IL. Here’s what I do on a daily basis: Get up, go to the gym, take the dogs for a walk in the park, commute 7 minutes to work, come home for lunch and let dogs out, back to work, then ride my horse after work, or walk the dogs again, or swim. Enjoy my charmed life! I have kids?: Well, not human. I have two great little dogs who think they are our children. I only wish I could put them on my insurance. I am married?: Yes. Spouse/Partner: Kurt Anderson. He is my greatest blessing in life! I’ve learned since high school: Speak up! What I would like to go down in history for: Being a really good friend.
