Name: Kellie Murphy-Ringate Birth Name: Kellie Murphy
After MHS I: I went into the restaurant business hoping to run a restaurant or hotel...hated it...I went back to school and have been there ever since. I'm the Diane Chambers of Excelsior. I've worked towards several degrees. I have one in Public Communitcations/9-1-1. Currently, I'm working towards a Fire Science Degree. I waited till 27 to get married and that strategy did'nt work. I got the big "D" from him..the loser. It was the path I had to take to find the love of my life in the friend I already had. After a fairy tail romance I married Gary Ringate on September 11, 1999. I saved the best for last.
While at MHS, I would have loved to have had a date with (or been noticed by): a good grade average
Most Embarrassing High School memory is: There are mechanisms in my brain protecting me from those memories.
Most exciting thing I’ve done since I left MHS: Gotten older, wiser, happier, and been given the gifts of a great family and many good friendships. I've had a ball with life's good times and have meant the challenges of lifes bad times.
Farthest away from MHS: Hawaii
Most bizarre place I’ve run into an old classmate: An Irish Pub in Wyoming. One of those, I reconize you, and don't know your name and won't remember it moments.
Best friend while at MHS: Katy Moore, Diane Willamson, and Stacy Morgan.
The most meaningful moment I have had since MHS: After being commended for my writing ablity several times, one day it hit me. My Journalism teacher, Ms Peavey was WRONG when she told me I would never be a writer. Writing news paper articles, porposals, curriculums, and hisory books are a part of my job responsibilities at the Fire District. If she would have told me I would always stink at grammer and will never win a spelling bee, she would still be right. Oh well it doesn't stop Steven King.
I now reside in: This apple refused to fall far from the tree, Excelsior, MN
Here’s what I do on a daily basis: My day can start at 1:00 a.m., 3:00 a.m. or when ever my fire department beeper goes off. It's been 10 years and I still can not fall asleep after a late night fire call. I usually run five to seven miles in the morning. I'll run into my grandmother or my childhood girl friend Katy while I'm out on the trail. I go home feed the dogs and get ready for the income generating job, a server at Axel's in Chanhassen. Before I go to the income job I'll work on the labor of love job, Public Relations/Education Administrator for the Excelsior Fire District. I'll attend meetings, do paper work, and make phone calls. Then I'll go to my job at Axels. When I get off work its a potpourri of possiblities. I go to School, I'll teach a class, set up for a fund raiser, respond to an emergency call, hang out with the hubby and freinds. I enjoy living and have not yet discovered the concept of down time. Weekends are the best, Every Friday night my husband Gary and I still have date night. If there is not a weekend Fire District function, we dedicate our days to yard work and home improvements. We have not lived in a construction dust free environment since we married in 1999. Sunday mornings we set a side for coffee and conversation.
I have kids?: Mother nature has not let us in on that plan, yet. Do firefighters count?
I am married?: To my soul mate
Spouse/Partner: Gary Ringate, classic car auto technician. Excelsior City Council, firefighter, and a "Hunk of burnin love"
I’ve learned since high school: The more you experience life and it's experiences. The more you learn, the more wiser you become, and the more people you meet.
What I would like to go down in history for: I don't want to go down in history, I want to be a part of it.
