Mark Ruffino

Name: Mark W. Ruffino

After MHS I: I went to Fergus Falls Junior College to mainly continue my Basketball Career but I did complete pre-engineering coursework.  From there I went to the School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, SD again to continue playing Basketball and attempt to become an Engineer.  That was short lived (just one year).  I transferred to NDSU and did  obtained a degree in Civil/Construction Enginnering.  I have worked for just one company since my College graduation.  I work for M.A. Mortenson Company who constructs some of the largest, most complex, facilities in the US.  I lived for a short time (3 years) in Washington State but I am now back in MN.

While at MHS, I would have loved to have had a date with (or been noticed by): Kelly, Jenny, many more

Most Embarrassing High School memory is: It's embarassing to think about now becasue it was so dumb at the time - pushing that rental car around in the parking garage - many know what I am talking about.

Most exciting thing I’ve done since I left MHS: Winning the Junior College State Basketball Tournament, then winning the Regional Tournament, and then Particpiating in the National Tournament.  We were one of 16 teams left in the entire country.  This was especially fulfilling as most of you will remember that we did not have a good high school team.

Farthest away from MHS: London, England

Most bizarre place I’ve run into an old classmate: I don't run into many but I did run into "Butch" at the Tiramisu restaurant in Minnetonka a couple of years ago.  Not too bizarre.

Best friend while at MHS: Dave Vernon

The most meaningful moment I have had since MHS: Getting Married

I now reside in: Deephaven, MN

Here’s what I do on a daily basis: Go to work at Mortenson.  I am the Chief Estimator which means I oversee all of our estimating for various construction projects.  I try to determine what projects like the Wild Arena may cost to build from a set of plans.  Most of my days are spent planning for the weekend and the trip to the cabin (we are restoring a 1924 Farm House that serves as our cabin/lake home)

I have kids?: Nope

I am married?: Yes

Spouse/Partner: Margaret Ruffino (Runyan) from the small town of Verndale, MN.  We met while in Junior College at Fergus Falls.

I’ve learned since high school: That friendships and relationships with people are truly important and I wish I would have made more of them and maintained more of them with schoolmates.

What I would like to go down in history for: Being a great husband and finding ways to provide things for those less fortunate.
